7th Annual Fingerstyle Guitar Workshop

This workshop is geared to let players of all levels share in the excitement of spending a week doing “all things guitar”
Italian fingerstyle virtuoso Peppino D’Agostino, long resident in the Bay Area USA, is a global citizen who has absorbed many musical influences.
In this workshop,using group and individual tuition, Peppino will guide you in;
- basic right hand and left hand techniques
- arranging and composing for steel-string guitars
- explore styles, techniques and rhythms from Latin America, Italy and elsewhere.
Inspired by these beautiful melodies students will learn to support them with intelligent harmonies and powerful grooves, incorporating practical guitar techniques such a string bending, percussion, slide, open tunings and bent harmonics. Peppino will also examine some of his original material closely, providing students with insights on the creative process of composing and arranging.
About the artist:
Over a 30 year career devoted to the guitar Peppino D’Agostino rose from a street musician to winner of Guitar Player Magazine’s 2007 Reader poll as Best Acoustic Guitarist and Acoustic Guitar magazine’s 2008 Bronze Player’ Choice Award for the Best Acoustic Guitar Album of All Time ( Every Step of the Way, 2002 on Favored Nations Acoustic). He has collaborated with classical virtuoso David Tanenbaum, rocker Stef Burns and master builder Robert Godin, whose Seagull Guitar line featured the D’Agostino Signature Model. Peppino’s musical hero is legendary film composer Ennio Morricone.
